How hops grow?

I was recently in the US state of New York for a travel story: Central New York: that one time where I tried 50 different craft beers and 20 spirits in 5 days

I wanted to learn a little bit more about hops and I was directed to a small hop yard where I discussed the matter with farmer Larry Fisher. The photos did not fit in my story, so here they are.
